Frost down to -20 °C and heavy snow didn’t destroy “Baltija’s” production plans. Despite extreme winter conditions, “Baltija” Shipyard operated normally in January. Steel blocks and superstructure were delivered safely to the main customer Odense Steel Shipyard. All shipments were done successfully thanks to non-freezing port of Klaipeda. In the middle of the month “Baltija” started the implementation of new order for Meyer Werft GmbH Shipyard. In the presence of Customer’s representatives steel cutting works were started. The work process and the implementation of the order at “Baltija” Shipbuilding Yard will be supervised by a constant representative of Meyer Werft GmbH. The block delivery is scheduled for the beginning of May 2010. The implementation of the order for the hull construction for fishing trawler is going on. In December shipyard has successfully performed keel-laying. In the middle of February the painting of the blocks will be started. This fishing trawler will be more than 80 meters long and 16.6 meters wide. The new fishing trawler, named „Christina E“, has several innovative characteristics. First of all, the vessel is designed so that it can also be operated for other purposes, such as oil industry support. The vessel is equipped with an integrated loading, cooling and unloading system. It is used for the transport of living salmon. In "Christina E" the fish will be stored in 12 cylinder RSW tanks which are used as vacuum containers. The new feature of the system is the gentle treatment of the caught fish. The ship has a hybrid propulsion system, which means that the ship can be operated solely by power from diesel electric engines at a lower consumption and environment friendly conditions. |
