Modernization of the barges is finished

The modernization of the barges SIF and JARL, which started in October 2003 was completed in January 2004.

The barge SIF was lengthened first. For this purpose 4 blocks were built and loaded onto the barge. Then the barge was docked and divided in two separate halves. The new blocks were set into the central part.

The second barge was lengthened using the same technology.

Apart from the main works there were some additional ones, such as repair of the parts damaged during exploitation.

In December 2003 "Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd." purchased the barges (from Svitzer). As a result they were renamed. The barge SIF that was delivered to the customer in December was renamed to LINDO 4 and JARL delivered in the end of January 2004 was renamed to LINDO 3.
