"Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard quality management system complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2000

On 20 - 23 May 2002, the second stage of the audit of the "Baltija" quality management system (QMS) took place. It was carried out by the auditors of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) Gunta Primane, Neeme Kaarma and Oleg Zakabunin. During the first stage of the audit that took place in 10-11 April the auditors of LRQA verified the way QMS was described in the documents and how it conformed to the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2000. During the second stage of the audit, the company's practical activities and performance of the QMS requirements was being checked. QMS was acknowledged as complying with ISO 9001:2000 and it was officially certified by the corresponding certificate. It includes the sphere of QMS application: SHIP BUILDING. STEEL CONSTRUCTIONS, PRODUCTION FOR MACHINE BUILDING". The certificate is valid for three years; thereafter the QMS will be subject foe repeated certification. Within the period of the three years, every 6 months LRQA will perform periodical audits each time choosing a different field. Program for periodical audits is drawn up in such a way as to make it possible to audit all the processes in the company linked with the requirements of ISO within three years. G.Primane, representative of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, presented the certificate in solemn manner on the 5th of July of 2001 at the celebration of the company's 50th anniversary held at the Klaipeda Drama Theater. This document of particular significance to "Baltija" was accepted by general director V.Stulpinas and technical director S.Boiko who proudly spoke about improvement of the company's performance quality and promised to accord much attention to this aim in the future. |
