Print version2002-02-28
Growing amounts of unit and superstructure production demanded that the production capacity of the blasting and painting workshop be increased. On May 6th. 2001 the Board of "Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard JSC made a decision on the construction of a new painting hall. Limited liability company "Lietuvos statybu projektavimo institutas" (The Lithuanian Institute of Construction Design) was selected as the general designer, whereas "Ikoda" Ltd. was hired as the general contractor. Construction site preparation works (in the stead of a part of the building of the unused foundry workshop) and equipment of the transport grounds for units commenced in June 2001. They were carried out by "Dubysa" Ltd. The construction of the workshop building was started in October 2001. More than 10 Lithuanian subcontractors took part in the construction and equipment works of the new workshop. Specialists from the Danish company "Bellinge Ventilation A/S" installed a unique ventilation and heating system. Company "Munkebo Productions" manufactured the technological equipment for grit blasting of steel and grit regeneration in Denmark. Workers of "Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard JSC, too, took part in the construction and installation works; they installed the grit regeneration system and part of the pipelines. The opening ceremony of the new hall was held on February 28th, 2002. The start-up of this object is a logical continuation of the implementation of the investment project designed for the development of the production capacities of "Baltija", which was commenced in 1997 after the privatization of the enterprise. The painting workshop is one of the most modern industrial objects in this city. Its dimensions (36 x 36 x 20 m) provide for a possibility to paint and blast blocks up to 500 t in weight. Temperature maintenance and control processes inside the hall, as well as ventilation system control are computerized. The technological equipment and the hall in general meet the requirements of ecological standards approved by the EU. |
